R3 includes Dibond recycling service
ALCAN COMPOSITES and Robert Horne Sign & Display signed a groundbreaking agreement at the recent Sign & Digital UK 2008 exhibition, to launch a fully auditable recycling scheme for Dibond customers the first of its kind in the UK for ACM panels.
The new scheme, which complies with Alcans ISO 14001 certification, will result in as much as 99.9 percent of material being re-used.
Simon Philpott, Alcans UK & Ireland National Manager explained: We have worked closely with our partners at Robert Horne to develop the system so that it is as easy for fabricators to use as possible. Free material collections from customer premises will be offered immediately and we are also looking into other ways to make the scheme attractive, including the possibility of financial incentives.

The new scheme, which will operate under Robert Hornes R3 Recycling banner, is open to all customers using Alcans Dibond and Dilite ACM panels. Other ACM materials cannot be returned under the scheme, as Alcans materials are unique in using high grade AIMg1 alloy and are therefore free of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium.
Dibond and Dilite panels also feature single-material cores, which can be recycled.
Alcan believe that growing demands for auditable sustainable practices from major end-user clients will be a further strong incentive for fabricators to use the scheme, which commenced at the beginning of May.
